Eight years after she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Emily McCorquodale has a reason to smile. The niece of Diana, Princess of Wales has, Mandrake can disclose, become engaged. Emily, 28, who is the daughter of Diana's elder sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, has accepted a marriage proposal from James Hutt, who helped her overcome her illness.
However, like the rest of today's social networking generation, Celia McCorquodale is clearly not noted for her discretion. Celia, 21, has posted a wide range of pictures on her Facebook site. On her gap year, Celia visited Vietnam, Cuba, Mexico and Peru - where she cavorted naked with friends at the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.
She and her family reside near Grantham, Lincolnshire where she served a one-year term as High Sheriff of Lincolnshire in 2009. She became a master of the Belvoir Hunt in May 2010. Lady Sarah was also president of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, which raised £100 million for various charities.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked in excellent spirits as they attended a family wedding yesterday. The newlyweds co-ordinated in powder blue as they watched Princess Diana's niece Celia McCorquodale tie the knot with George Woodhouse at St Andrew and St Mary's Church in Stoke Rochford, Lincolnshire.
Sarah and Neil McCorquodale Lady Sarah McCorquodale, 63, is the eldest of the Spencer children. She dated Prince Charles in 1977 and introduced the royal to her youngest sister. She married Neil McCorquodale, a farmer and former officer with the Coldstream Guards, in May 1980. The couple have three children and two grandchildren.
